Visit Enticing Ebisu

If you want to see some fine neighborhoods in Tokyo, a good place to visit is Ebisu, also known as Yebisu.  It’s conveniently located near Roppongi district and Central Shibuya.

Ebisu is filled with bars, eateries, and other establishments. There, you can hang out and sample the Japanese menus of grilled meat, sushi, and saki. If you crave American fast food, there is also KFC.

Ebisu Garden Place in particular is a fun area.  It’s a tiny city within the neighborhood, once a beer brewery for Yebisu Beer, from which the neighborhood takes its name. Now, it’s a cluster of skyscrapers, restaurants, hotels, and stores.

Museum of Yebisu Beer

Ebisu is the headquarters of Sapporo Breweries. It was once the main competition to the Japan Beer Brewery Company, makers of Yebisu beer. Through a series of mergers, it eventually acquired the Yebisu beer brand.

The Museum of Yebisu Beer delves into the history and ways of brewing beer in Japan. It has a memorial hall that details the brand’s history and a gallery of the Yebisu beer advertisements and brewing techniques. Of course, you also get the chance to taste their beer.

The museum is open 11 am– 7 pm, Tuesday–Sunday. Admission is free, but the guided tour costs 500 yen.  There is an added cost to taste the beer.

Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography

The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography is in Yebisu Garden Place.  It holds around 20,000 marvelous photographs, but not all of them are on display at one time.  The museum is open 10 am – 6 pm, Saturday -Wednesday, and 10 am – 8 pm Thursdays and Fridays. The price changes for special exhibits, but generally the admission is 500 yen for adults and half-price for children.
